Program Specialist III
Under the direction of the Community Health Services Manager and supervision of the Manager I, performs complex consultative services and technical assistance work. Work involves planning, developing and implementing the Title V Maternal and Child Health population based services work plan in assigned counties. Collaborates with program staff in the planning, development, and implementation of regional public health prevention initiatives which focuses on community outreach, training, and education for targeted audiences within Public Health Region 1. Assists in the development and evaluation of public health prevention education initiatives, strategies, and adapts the implementation at the local level, via media campaigns and regional events, training programs, coalition development, and the promotion of public health. Collaborates and assists with education and awareness of COVID-19, strategies to reduce transmission, promotes, and participates in related PHR-1 initiatives or projects. Provides training, consultative and advisory assistance to DSHS program staff, community leaders and members, businesses, schools, work sites, community organizations, and healthcare providers on strengthening local public health systems and building local capacity for public health. Participates in coordination of health survey, data collection, compilation, and analysis of data. PHR-1 community and county health data. Utilizes the data for strategic planning and reducing risk factors, health disparities, and adverse health outcomes. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement.
