Invasive Species Biological Technician Intern

Candidates will train in Nashville, TN then move to locations throughout the eastern US. IPC covers all lodging costs for college interns.

Candidates must either be working towards or have a degree in a resource management related field.

Applicants will have the opportunity to work in various natural areas throughout the United States with an emphasis on invasive plant management. Invasive Plant Control, Inc. will provide you with the opportunity to conduct intensive habitat rehabilitation of many different native plant communities with the main emphasis in invasive plant management. IPC is a privately owned company considered one of the leaders in the invasive plant control market in the US. IPC emphasizes control in natural area settings.

The primary function will be to be part of an invasive plant management team and utilize a variety of techniques including chemical and mechanical methods to control invasive exotic plants. Technicians will participate daily in the following activities:
  • Inventory and monitoring
  • Prevention
  • Early Detection and rapid response (EDRR)
  • Treatment and control
  • Restoration
IPC Strike teams work in a wide variety of ecosystems nationwide, in both urban and natural environments, ranging from the US Forest Service in North Carolina to Military installations throughout the US to private not for profit land such as the Nature Conservancy in New York.
Field technicians will be trained in chainsaw use, ATV or RTV use, experience applying herbicides, and safety and first aid. Applicants must have the physical ability to work in difficult outdoor environments on a daily basis.

Salary: $550 per week plus housing and transportation
