Global Education Initiatives & Educator Pipeline Programs

Position

The Baker Teacher Leader Center invites applications for a Graduate Assistant beginning the 2022-2023 academic year (August 17, 2022 – May 12, 2023) at .50 effort at an average of 20 hours/week.
 
Description 

We seek an individual with a strong interest in supporting global education initiatives and educator pipeline programs in the College of Education. These programs serve students at both the undergraduate and graduate level. The work will involve engaging with a broad range of constituents on campus, in the community, and around the globe as we seek to expand our College’s internationalization efforts, and diversify the educator pipeline. This individual will support both programs logistically, including event design and hosting; managing registrations; tracking participation; and event follow up. The individual will support assessment efforts to understand the impact of programs on stated goals. 

Additional responsibilities may include: 
• Supporting program development including curriculum design; hosting events; social media management; event registration and logistics; 
• Developing and building outreach to stakeholders including email, social media, survey, and other stakeholder engagement strategies;
• Support travel logistics for individual and group travel experiences. 

Requirements

Must be a student working toward a MA, MAT, or PhD in Teaching and Learning, Education Policy and Leadership Studies, or a related field. Must have international experience broadly defined. Must have experience supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion work in professional settings. Preference will be given to those who have experience with K-12 school systems, students, and teachers, and those who have experience organizing and traveling with students abroad. Must be willing to spend time working with youth in K12 settings.

Graduate teaching and research assistant appointments, employment terms, benefits, and conditions are governed by a Graduate Assistant Employment agreement, and the University Operations Manual . Base wages are determined by a collective bargaining agreement between the Board of Regents, State of Iowa and UI local 896/COGS.
