Director, Child Development Center

Impact & Responsibilities: The UNI Child Development Center Director is a 2-year fixed term appointment. The director manages the daily operations of the UNI Child Development Center (CDC); confers with parents on operational, financial and care-related policies, procedures and questions; collaborates in the development and implementation of the CDC's educational standards, goals, policies and procedures; takes responsibility for all reporting requirements; hires, supervises, evaluates and provides professional development for staff and other classroom personnel; facilitates field placements; serves as liaison between UNI faculty, administration, staff and community entities to address early childhood needs; manages the CDC operating budget; and evaluates the program annually to measure progress toward meeting UNI and state goals.
 
Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field; at least three years of experience in administering a licensed child development program; strong working knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices; a commitment to diversity in an educational environment; excellent written and verbal communication skills; early childhood educational certification; and current certifications in Infant/Child CPR, First Aid, Mandatory Reporter, and OSHA.
 
Preferred: Master's degree in early childhood or related field; experience with the NAEYC accreditation process; experience with Iowa's Quality Rating System (QRS) requirements; and knowledge of business operations and Iowa DHS licensing regulations.
