This Direct-Hire position is in the Food and Drug Administration and is located in the Division of Neurotoxicology which primary mission is to identify and quantify the neurotoxicity associated with FDA-regulated products and identify biological pathways associated with the expression of neurotoxicity.

Duties
  • Uses techniques or methods to define mechanisms by which various chemicals or other compounds/insults produce or prevent neurotoxicity.
  • Keeps accurate records, and maintains an adequate stock of chemicals, supplies and equipment for several laboratories.
  • Uses and operates a variety of type of scientific equipment, including analytical balances, pH meters, centrifuges, automatic pipettes, spectrophotometers, HPLC (for measurement of neurotransmitters or other endpoints) and microscopes.
  • Reports safety hazards, potentially hazardous situations, and ?close calls? to the supervisor, and assists the supervisor to identify and eliminate unsafe conditions.
