Iowa Softball Student Manager

BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY:

Coaches and players spend their time focusing on practice and games. Student managers handle many of the behind-the-scenes organizational tasks which are critical to the success of the program. This position entails showing up early to assist coaches and players and staying after practice is complete to tear down the practice set up. 

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Catch a bullpen session for pitchers 

• Attend all team practices/games 

• Set-up and tear-down of practice equipment

• Organize and participate in drills when needed 

• Operate scouting systems when needed 

• Pre-game set up on game days

• Attend visiting team practices when needed

• Keep game charts 

• Travel with team to competitions

• Load and unload equipment on bus

• Do laundry during away trips 

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Possess broad knowledge of softball or baseball

• Ability to move up to 50 pounds

• Ability to throw front toss, play defense or be a baserunner

• Detail oriented with good time management and organizational skills

• Must be a full-time student with 12 or more credit hours. 

• A valid U.S. driver’s license with the ability to meet the UI Driving Standards is preferred

• Experience working with technology is preferred

• Experience with statistics and/or analytics (Dartfish Analytics) is preferred

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office is preferred

• Experience with Photoshop/InDesign is preferred

WORK SCHEDULE: Must be able to work from 1-5 PM daily. Schedule varies during the spring season.
