IT Physical Infrastructure Student Assistant

Information Technology Services (ITS) has an opening for student employment that provides experience working with physical infrastructure records. Duties include verifying records for fiber and copper cables, voice, data services and triaging IT room temperature issues. Similar duties exist working with the wireless access point by doing documentation, verifying the service connection and placement out in the field. Job will require field work of data cross-connects, installing wireless access points, installing UPS cards in IT rooms, working with field staff to complete data port consolidations and record updates. 
 
Required Qualifications
Ability to repeatedly lift up to 50 lbs. due to handling of some network switches and lifting of UPS’. Job requires a valid U.S. driver license, 3 years of driving history, and adherence to UI Driving Policy . Criminal background check and review of driving record will be conducted on finalist.

Required Work Schedule
Up to 20 hours/week during our office hours of 7:30 to 4:30, M-F. We are flexible with your work hours based on your class schedule, but prefer a consistent schedule week-to-week.
