The Stanley Museum of Art is ready to grow our student staff! Gallery Hosts are the most visible team members at the museum and will directly support an amazing visitor experience.

You will spend your shifts greeting guests, introducing the museum and works in the collection, communicating visitor guidelines, and contributing to the success of museum events. Gallery Hosts will also have opportunities to assist with school tours, in the Visual Classroom, and complete collections-based research projects.  

Key Responsibilities 
  • Provide excellent customer service to guests in the lobby  
  • Enforce museum visitor and safety policies 
  • Use point-of-sale software to perform simple transactions and timed entry reservations 
  • Monitor museum spaces to ensure the safety of guests and of works of art 
  • Provide support for special events and museum programming 
  • Data collection and assessment
  • Maintain and build on knowledge of the museum’s collections and exhibitions through training and self-guided research 

Compensation and Hours  
$10.50/hour | 12-20 hours per week during semester, over university holidays and summer break. 

Shifts align with public gallery hours; daytime, Thursday evening, and weekend hours available.  

Desired Qualifications 
  • Customer service experience in any setting 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Interest in art history, museum studies, or nonprofit work helpful but not required
