To achieve this, DPC is driven by ambitious goals in five focus areas. DPC members share specific responsibilities in each area, both individually and as a team, as outlined below:

Academic Support—You’ll accelerate the academic growth and achievement of our students by:

  • Providing targeted academic support in literacy and/or math to small groups and individual students

Social Emotional Support—You’ll enhance the school’s capacity to promote a safe and supportive school climate by:

  • Developing positive and productive relationships with individual students
  • Spending non-academic time each day getting to know students in a range of settings and ensuring that each student is known and appreciated

School Culture—You’ll support building a whole-school community by:

  • Collaborating with school staff to create and cultivate a culture that promotes high levels of student engagement and investment
  • Support opportunities to expand students’ learning and growth by leading, contributing, and/or developing enrichment programs, school-wide initiatives, and clubs

Community Engagement—As a neighborhood based corps, you'll become an active member of and engage with the community by:

  • Learning about the Dudley community history, assets, and aspirations
  • Engaging with community partners through multi-faceted experiences outside of school, since DPC believes that this connection will give corps members an understanding that allows them to better serve students

Member Training and Support— You’ll strengthen your professional development by:

  • Participating in trainings and professional development opportunities that enhance your ability to perform your school responsibilities
  • Gaining the knowledge, skills, and experiences that empower you to continue to work toward social justice and equity and remain engaged leaders in your communities long after your service year
