Spring 2023 Experience Ambassador

The Experience Ambassador is an undergraduate position that supports on campus outreach to promote internships, the Hawkeye Experience Grant, engagement opportunities and the Hawkeye Engage website. The position is paid $11 per hour and is up to 5 hours per week. Great experience for students interested in a future career in student affairs, education, or public speaking, or for those looking to give back to their fellow students while getting paid.
 
Duties may include but are not limited to the following: 
Outreach 
  • Support internship, Hawkeye Experience Grant, Engagement Record, and/or experiential education awareness by working with the Career Center marketing team and Associate Director, Experiential Education on presentations and tabling. 
  • Coordinate information tables across campus to promote experiences and scholarships or other awareness building activities on campus 
  • Recruit, schedule, and facilitate outreach presentations to student groups regarding the Engagement Record, Hawkeye Engage website, Internships, or Hawkeye Experience Grant (will include occasional nights and weekends) 
  • Support drop-in hours for Hawkeye Experience Grant help-sessions 
Program Support 
  • Research and update funding documents providing information on outside scholarships 
  • Attend meetings and presentations as needed related to experiential education and provide input from student perspective  
  • Other administrative duties as assigned 
 
Required skills/experience: 
  • Must be a student at the University of Iowa 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills  
  • Experience working with people across differences including but not exclusive of different backgrounds, identities, abilities, ages, beliefs, or lifestyles  
  • Experience with presentations, tours, and/or 1:1 mentoring, tutoring, or advising 
  • Positive, friendly attitude with ability to be flexible 
  • Excited to build liaison relationships across campus for effective outreach 
  • Ability to work independently  
 
Desired skills/experience: 
  • Students with prior intern, student leadership, research, study abroad, or community-engagement/service-learning experiences are encouraged to apply but prior experience is not required
