AOT Technician II - Highway Maintenance | State of Vermont

The Agency of Transportation is seeking a Technician for work within District 3. The District Technicians will be required to perform a variety of jobs throughout the year and a significant amount of driving to perform field work is required. Field work includes, but is not limited to: inspecting culverts/sink holes, shooting grades for culvert installations, surveying, occasional traffic control, construction site inspections, salt sampling, light brush cutting, monitoring paving projects, assisting towns and Agency personnel with technical advice, issuing permits and performing sight distance surveys, and obtaining environmental permits for stream/wetland work. In an emergency storm event, this position is required to assist in damage collection assessments (for State and Town infrastructure) and to coordinate the re-building of our State network. The work done within this position is very diverse and fast-paced.

The office is located in Mendon, VT. Office work is diverse and will consist of phone calls, e-mails, in-person interactions, paperwork, plan reviews, and rudimentary right-of-way research. Basic computer skills are necessary, experience with Excel spreadsheets and CADD programs are encouraged.

Communication skills are vital, as is experience with public speaking, basic construction knowledge, adaptability, and a willingness to learn new things.
