Description
The Child and Family Services Area of Health and Human Services seeks a Senior Social Worker for the Parent Support Outreach (PSOP) Team. PSOP workers provide voluntary child welfare services to families who have risk factors of child abuse and neglect.
Location and hours:
This position is hybrid. Work will be both remote and in person, requiring travel to various sites throughout Hennepin County to meet face-to-face with residents. Work hours are Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements, hires must reside in Minnesota or Wisconsin.
New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022 to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment.

This position is internally classified as a Social Worker, Senior.
In this position you will:
- Engage with residents in voluntary services and provide strengths-based case management.
- Complete referrals to community agencies to address long-term resident needs.
- Communicate with internal and external stakeholders via phone, email, and in-person in accordance with the case management role.
- Complete documentation in accordance with program standards.
Need to have:
- One of the following:
- Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or human services, and at least 27 quarter credits of graduate work in the above areas, and three years or more of full-time supervised experience as a social worker.
- Master's degree or higher in social work or closely related field with course work emphasis in areas such as social work methods, human growth and behavior, and principles or social welfare.
- Licensed as a Graduate Social Worker by the Minnesota Board of Social Work.
- A valid driver's license and daily access to reliable transportation to travel throughout Hennepin County.
Nice to have:
- One or more years of experience providing social services to children as a supervised social worker in a public or private social services agency.
- Case management experience working with at-risk families.
- Experience with social service information system (SSIS) documentation and the ability to engage residents in voluntary child welfare services.
- Knowledge of:
- The Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP) and other financial programs, and the ability to collaborate with internal service providers from these companion programs.
- Community resources and supports.
- Social work practice and ethics, including early intervention and prevention work.
- The ability to understand issues related to equity and to demonstrate a commitment to promote diversity and inclusion.
- Commitment to the mission and philosophy of the Well-Being team.
