Summer Internship: Industrial Hygiene

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Under general supervision, apply industrial hygiene knowledge and skill to sample, compile written reports, and relay results associated with occupational exposures within the utility business at the generation, transmission, distribution, and affiliated facilities
  • Perform process safety assessments and evaluations to OSHA and PSM standards
  • Develop technical reports as required
  • Perform technical reviews for peers which could include job hazard analysis, presentations, reports, etc.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must currently be enrolled in either:
  • Bachelor's degree program in industrial safety, industrial hygiene, or equivalent OR
  • Master's degree program in industrial safety, industrial hygiene, or equivalent
  • Have an anticipated graduation date between December 2023 and June 2025
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license as occasional travel may be required
  • The ability to be flexible and handle multiple work projects and priorities
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Candidates may be subject to assessment of skills, job match, or aptitude

DETAILS & DURATION OF INTERNSHIP:
  • This internship will report in person to Duluth, MN
  • This role is expected to begin June 2023
  • The internship will be full time during summer with the possibility of extending to a part time basis during academic terms up until graduation
  • ALLETE will comply with college requirements
  • Hours and duration are subject to change based on company needs
