The Department of Rehabilitation Therapies at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics is looking for a Senior Physical Therapist to administer treatment to patients with complex physical dysfunctions, disorders and/or injuries and evaluate and interpret findings. This position will primarily be assigned to the adult inpatient acute care setting.   
  • Provide quality patient care, evaluation, assessment, and treatment appropriate for patients with complex or specialized needs. Assignment will primarily be assigned to the adult inpatient acute care setting
  • Participate in the development of innovative clinical teaching activities to meet the learning needs of staff and students
  • Perform routine and assigned administrative tasks in an efficient manner and demonstrate innovative problem-solving approaches
  • Provides divisional and departmental leadership by:
  • Collaborating on special projects and assisting management as necessary
  • Participating in clinical research and maintaining a high level of clinical productivity
  • Providing educational experiences to staff and students.
  • Serving as a clinical resource
  • Demonstrating the ability to set and accomplish divisional/departmental goals
  • Identify opportunities, monitor, and participate in quality/process improvement activities and recommend corrective actions for effectiveness
  • Performs special projects and tasks as assigned
  • Maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the public

Qualifications
Experience Requirements:
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy or a Bachelor’s Degree in another field and a Physical Therapy Certificate is required.
  • 2 or more years’ experience as Physical Therapist with a high degree of understanding and skill in one or more areas of assigned responsibility.
  • Demonstrated clinical educational abilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a work or academic setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to function as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
Licenses/Certifications:
  • Licensure in accordance with the Iowa Board of Physical and Occupational Therapy is required.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience as Physical Therapist with advanced understanding and skill in providing physical therapy primarily to adults in an inpatient acute care setting.
  • 1-3 years’ experience in evaluation and treatment of patients in critical care 
  • Ability to function as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to practice in an autonomous manner.
  • Demonstrated efficiency in the provision of patient care.
  • Demonstrated effort to enhance one’s own knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Demonstrated program/service development or quality improvement projects.
