Human Resources Intern (Summer 2023)

BITCO Corporation is currently seeking a Human Resources Intern to join our Home Office team in Davenport, IA to join us for Summer 2023. With 13 branch offices in 12 states, BITCO provides quality insurance services to special industries including construction, forest products, and oil & gas.
 
About the Program:
BITCO's summer internship program is designed to provide educational and professional opportunities to students pursuing careers in commercial insurance or business-related fields. Interns will be assigned a variety of work that will help them develop the skills needed to succeed in their career. In addition to on-the-job experience, interns will have the opportunity to:
  • Network with company leaders, other interns and trainees, and professionals who are leaders in the industry

Position Summary:
The Human Resources Intern will have the opportunity to learn and gain first-hand experience in the day-to-day operations of a professional Human Resources department. This individual should be flexible and willing to take on tasks and projects as assigned.
 
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Update employee records
  • Update internal forms & databases
  • Review & update new hire information, including orientation and new hire documents
  • Prepare HR-related reports
  • Employee engagement activities 
  • Policy updates
  • Training documentation
  • Assist in organizing recruiting events and projects
  • Coordinating & scheduling meetings
  • Address employee inquiries about benefits
  • Other projects, as determined based on department needs and student interests
 
Qualifications:
  • Must be a college student at Sophomore Level or above
  • Must be working toward a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field
  • Must be able to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality
  • Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Professional attitude
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Must be dependable and available to work for the duration of the internship program
