Intern - Water Treatment Data Analyst

This position will be located on the University of Iowa Campus, and requires enrollment at the University. The intern will support Water Treatment Services. This group operates the University of Iowa Main Campus and Oakdale Water Treatment Plants. They also operate and maintain high quality water systems in campus buildings; including distillation, deionization, softening, reverse osmosis, disinfection, de-chlorination, and treatment of pools and spas. This position will assist with completing tasks using a variety of computer programs. The Intern will conduct data entry, data analysis and help with the creation of reports/trends with supervision.
 
What you’ll do:
  • Enter data for monthly billing of UI campus water usage and help update permits
  • Monitor water treatment systems through data analysis
  • Data entry to facilitate compliance monitoring of public water systems
  • Communicate with other staff and university employees
  • Generate and distribute monthly reports for billing and consumption
  • Maintain records and databases
  • Collect data from water meters
  • Other duties as assigned
 
What you bring:
  • Student must be enrolled in the University of Iowa
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel preferred
  • Degree paths preferred: Accounting, Mathematics, Environmental Sciences and Library Services
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally
  • Strong computer skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Availability during the summer required
