Biological Science Technician (Wildlife)

The Dillon Field Office is located in beautiful Southwest Montana with a variety of outdoor opportunities for weekend exploration. Outdoor hobbies vary from hiking, swimming, fishing, floating, camping, and more. Biological science technicians could serve as a fisheries, hydrology, wildlife, range, or weed spraying technician. All positions will be considered under this announcment.

Duties range from clearing timber sales for various hawks and owls, walking sagebrush steppe fuels treatment units looking for Pygmy Rabbit sign, collecting vegetation data in sagegrous habitat, collecting range vegetation data, conducting riparian assessments, and helping with various habitat improvement projects such as: fixing or modifying fence, removing conifers in Mule Deer winter range, building beaver dam analogs, cleaning a ditch of debris that runs into a waterfowl holdover pond. Even if hired as a technician in one certain program there is opportunity to cross train in all the above fields.
