Laboratory Technician

POSITION Sr. Laboratory Technician

POSITION SUMMARY
Performs all phases of antisera and calibrator production and testing, under moderate supervision. This is an ideal opportunity for an individual with Biology/Chemistry Lab experience who can effectively collaborate with a production lab team, as well as complete individual projects.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Performs all activities associated with production of bulk antisera and related products in accordance with manufacturing procedures and with limited supervision.
  • Records test results in notebook and writes test results describing procedures used.
  • Sets up, adjusts, and operates laboratory equipment and instruments involved in processing antisera including assays, diafiltration, and chromatography.
  • Pools batches for testing as necessary and evaluates antisera in accordance with manufacturing procedures by performing the following tests: RID, IEP and Becker Titer.
  • Compounds buffers according to procedures.
  • Participates in special projects as required.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required to be successful in this position:
  • An Associate’s degree in biology or relevant life sciences required, Bachelor’s degree preferred, and 1-3 years of previous related laboratory work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Requires basic lab skills to perform a variety of laboratory procedures and techniques including pipetting, chromatography, centrifuging, filling, filtering, electrophoresis, etc.
  • Requires proficiency in commonly used software programs for word processing, spreadsheets, and data bases, and the ability to maintain complete, clear, concise scientific records.
  • Requires good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Requires the ability to follow established procedures, work with limited supervision and to plan work activities from general directions.

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
