Position Summary
Revenue Agent positions work in a variety of different work areas including processing tax documents, providing answers to customer questions related to tax forms and tax law, making adjustments or preparing assessments and refunds, and collecting overdue taxes and other debts. These roles provide quality customer assistance and acquire additional information to help customers with tax questions. Positions require a high degree of independence, initiative, technical knowledge and ability to communicate across the organization. Some work areas may not have positions available throughout the entirety of this recruitment.
Customer Service (Madison): These positions are responsible for performing technical customer service by phone, email, and in person, providing general taxpayer assistance to customers, and educating taxpayers and department staff. Positions are in Madison.
Salary Information
Starting salary is $23.01 per hour, plus excellent benefits. Current state employees' pay will be set in accordance with pay upon appointment provisions for the compensation plan. This classification is in pay schedule/pay range 07-04 and serves an 18-month probationary period.
Job Details
The department will conduct a background check, fingerprint check and tax compliance check on all finalists. Interview results may be reused in accordance with the State of WI interview reuse policy.

Qualifications
Qualified candidates will have experience with all of the following:
• Experience providing customer service by phone, in writing and/or in person
• Experience reviewing documents for completeness and/or to take action on information submitted
Well-qualified candidates will also have:
• Experience working with tax laws (e.g., income, sales, withholding, excise)
• Call center experience
• Experience explaining laws, regulations and/or statutes
• Experience identifying or seizing assets and/or determining ability to pay
• Experience testing system or software changes
Effective verbal and written communication skills are required and will be evaluated at a later stage in the selection process.
