“Summer of Understanding an Agency”
Interns in The Horton Group Internship program, “Summer of Understanding an Agency” will be exposed to various aspects of an insurance brokerage. This internship will be hybrid – with a mix of working in office (Orland Park or Chicago, IL) and from home. Interns will be exposed to virtual and in person training in sales and service in areas of commercial risk management, employee benefits, personal insurance & safety/wellness consulting.
Throughout the summer, interns will be expected to attend external client webinars/events, Horton sponsored volunteer opportunities, professional development training, social events and various meetings to thoroughly understand the role of Horton as a brokerage.
Interns will also have the ability to take pre-licensing course work and a licensing exam for their Property & Casualty or Life & Health Insurance License by attending internal cohort licensing meetings.
The internship will provide a well-rounded opportunity to learn Insurance, in a fast-paced environment, from all aspects of the business and help give an understanding of the career paths available within The Horton Group from Client Service, Leadership and Sales.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
· Intern candidates must be working towards completing a Bachelor’s degree
Junior and Seniors strongly preferred that are pursuing a Business and/or Insurance related degree
· Ability to work in a fast paced and urgent environment
· Strong technology skills, specifically in Word and Excel
· Positive and upbeat attitude
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Ability to display strong attention to detail
· Willingness to learn and take direction from others
· Ability to work within an environment that embraces our passion of putting people at the center and growing intentionally.
