2025 Fall Tax/Accounting Internship
OFWF enthusiastically supports its Accounting Intern program helping students work toward their accounting degree by gaining hands-on experience. Interns are assigned to a mentor who helps guide their experiences during their time with OFWF. The duration depends upon the candidate and how their schedule is structured.
Typical Role of Accounting Intern
● Actively participate in orientation and training sessions to ramp up on firm environment, policies and procedures;
● Shadow coworkers as part of the orientation;
● Participate in many phases of attest engagements (compilations, reviews and audits);
● Participate in researching client data and developing appropriate tax schedules, following tax code and regulations and preparation of various types of tax returns including income tax for individual, business and trusts;
● Assist with tax planning for various types of clients;
● Develop a working knowledge of tax preparation software and other software necessary to prepare tax returns, tax projections, and other tax related projects;
● Work with bookkeeping software like QuickBooks;
● Demonstrate teamwork dynamics through working as a team member;
● Maintain and comply with the highest degree of professional standards, client confidentiality and personal conduct;
● Participate in client assignments from beginning to end; and
● Meet deadlines for completion of tax returns and other projects as assigned.

Qualifications
● Successful Accounting Interns are working toward a bachelor's degree with an accounting major with a minimum GPA of at least 3.0. Non-accounting majors do not qualify for this program.
● Demonstrate strict attention to detail, organization and efficiency.
● Possesses strong communication skills.
● Demonstrate their ability to work as part of a team and enjoy working with people.
● Candidates must be in Omaha, Nebraska.

Compensation
Compensation for the posted position has a guaranteed payrate that exceeds Nebraska's minimum wage of $10.50 per hour.
