Metrics Analyst Summer Internship – Workforce Cloud Product Team

Job Description

Looking to intern as a Metrics Analyst in our Technology division? The Workforce Cloud Product Team is responsible for Wellmark employee experience with technology, which includes computing devices, productivity software, conference room tech, mobile and personal devices access to Wellmark systems as well as several strategic and operational "business of Technology" functions to support the CIO and Technology leadership team. These include managing the sourcing of contingent labor resources, providing data analysis and metrics reporting for Technology operations and performance, research/reporting on healthcare technology innovation and supporting Technology communications and culture initiatives.

What projects might I support?  Although subject to change, examples of projects are included below:

  • Production, evolution, and maintenance/updates of operational and performance dashboards for executive awareness and decision support
  • Create data visualizations using tools like Excel, PowerPivot, Power Query and Power BI.
  • Report and presentation development.
  • Ad hoc data analysis efforts to answer business/operational questions.
  • Healthcare technology research and report development.

This internship will start in May of 2024, working a hybrid schedule from our headquarters in Des Moines.

Qualifications

  • Current junior, senior or graduate student studying Data Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related data management program
  • Familiarity with database systems, Microsoft Excel, and other data manipulation technologies, data visualization platforms and general data warehousing
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop proactive solutions
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to make recommendations by translating data analysis insights into decisions and actions
  • Strong technical aptitude, with the ability to learn new systems quickly
  • Demonstrated analytical skills, with the ability to concisely communicate recommendations
  • Proven ability to work in a deadline driven, fast paced environment

Preferred:

  • Prior internship or office experience
  • Previous experience using Power BI or Tableau
