Aviation Paralegal

Job Description:   Aviation Paralegal

Cooling & Herbers, P.C. is a Kansas City law firm seeking an individual to provide legal support to its business and litigation aviation attorneys. Join our team of experts in the aviation industry to provide superior service to our clients. The paralegal will work on a wide range of national and international transactional and litigation matters in the aviation industry. This is a career opportunity or can be a step in the legal field for one who desires to pursue a law degree. We are an internationally recognized aviation law firm and an exceptionally friendly, talented and experienced legal team.  Experience level 0-5 years. Excellent academic credentials required. Piloting experience a plus. Salary commensurate with experience and excellent benefits. 

Location:  Downtown Kansas City                                

Status:  Non-Exempt, Full-Time

Compensation:  Competitive Salary & Benefits                  

Hours:  8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

 

Responsibilities

  • Prepare legal documents and correspondence for corporate aviation transactions, including Aircraft Purchase Agreements, Management and Charter Agreements and Leases, for US and international transactions
  • Maintain closing checklists, tracking documents and correspondence
  • Prepare documents for filing with Federal Aviation Administration
  • Monitor email correspondence and documents
  • Enter daily attorney timekeeping
  • Perform legal research
  • Prepare new client/matter conflict checks
  • Coordinate domestic and international travel arrangements and meeting preparation
  • Schedule attorney CLE courses and maintain attorney bar status

Abilities and Expectations

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced environment
  • Detail oriented with high level of discretion
  • Demonstrates initiative with strong work ethic
  • Team player with regular and punctual attendance is essential

Education and Skill Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree, required.  Preferred degree in English, Communications or related subject with excellent academic credentials
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Office or law firm experience helpful, will train
  • Aviation knowledge or industry experience preferred
  • Computer skills:  MS Office and Outlook; Tabs or NetDocs a plus
  • Foreign language skills a plus
