IT Support Assistant - UI College of Pharmacy

Provide in person front-line technology service and support to students, faculty, and staff within the College of Pharmacy. Assist customers who are experiencing any procedural or operating difficulty with the use of IT software, products, or services. Complex and/or high priority problems are escalated to specialized support groups for resolution when needed. Occasionally, provide administrative and special project support to other college business units. We will provide training in the various technology areas that we support.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Have strong customer service and communication skills, as well as interest in delivering support in person, by email, and phone in a positive and respectful manner to a diverse group of students, faculty, and staff who are members of both academic and non-academic business units.
  • Bring a working knowledge of and experience with Windows and Mac operating systems, mobile technologies (iOS, Android, etc.), including basic navigation, configuration, and software installation/removal.
  • Must be a self-starter, eager to learn, and able to work independently.
  • Must be able to move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds (with or without reasonable accommodations).
  • Must successfully complete a criminal background check

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A fundamental understanding of University of Iowa IT services and related infrastructure is desirable.
  • Working knowledge of common Microsoft Office 365 applications and cloud services utilized at the University of Iowa.
  • Experience in managing small to medium size tasks.

This position is limited to 20 hours per week during the academic year (320 hours per semester). Hours will generally be scheduled: Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Desired 15-20 hours per week during the semester, with afternoon availability. Student staff may work up to 40 hours per week during Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring breaks; positions during breaks are filled on first come, first serve basis or as the College of Pharmacy’s needs require. Flexible around student class schedules.
 
The base wage is $11.00 per hour (with little to no experience), and increases based on skills and experience.
