As a Patient Care Technician,you will play a critical role in continuing the healing mission of Deaconess.

Job Overview:

Under the supervision of the RN, the Patient Care Technician (PCT) performs various care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs, comfort and safety of a specific patient population (ANA Standards of Delegation, 2004). The employee must be able to successfully complete job specific orientation, competencies, and meet/exceed standards as identified in the criteria based performance appraisal.PCTs must demonstrate awareness of patients rights in all aspects of patient care and reportissues to the appropriate person. The PCT demonstrates leadership through coordination of unit equipment and activities. Communicates to the RN pertinent findings or observations noted while providing patient care and comfort.Assist professional staff with basic life support principles.

Unit Description:

The Cardiac Neuro ICU (3900) is dedicated to caring for patients with complex Cardiogenic, Neurological, and Medical conditions requiring Intensive Care. This includes Acute Strokes ( Ischemic Strokes, Hemorrhagic Strokes) Subdural Bleeds, Sepsis, Renal Failure, Acute MI, Post Cardiac Arrest, and Cardiogenic Shock. This department includes 28 beds with 25/28 beds having dialysis capability. This unit cares for patients requiring Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) , Ekosonic Endovascular System (EKOS) treatment, two heart assist devices (Impella, Balloon Pump), Post Vascular Procedures and Surgeries. Each room is self-contained with all the needed supplies and monitoring equipment.

Required: Certifications/Licenses/Education:

  • Basic Life Support: Health Care Provider, within six months of hire.
  • Completion of a high school education or equivalent (GED) preferred
  • Successfully complete PCT classes as required by care center/unit.
