Urban Planner

HIRING RANGE DOQ: $2,678.40 - $2,957.60 bi-weekly

JOB SUMMARY

You’ll get to be part of a committed and talented team and will play a crucial role in developing and implementing various programs in the areas that include land use, zoning, subdivisions, landscaping, site design, historic preservation, corridor redevelopment, annexation, and neighborhood-level strategic planning.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in urban planning, geography, landscape architecture, public administration or related field and a minimum of two (2) years’ professional urban planning experience, including zoning, transportation, transit, economic development, landscaping, and/or architecture; or any such combination of education, experience, and training as may be acceptable to the hiring authority.

Possession of a valid driver’s license is desirable.

  • Competitive salary with other public and industry positions, including step advancements.
  • The City participates in the South Dakota Retirement System. Employees receive a 6% match.  Additionally, employees may choose to enroll in a Deferred Compensation Plan.

  • 11 paid holidays and 2 personal leave days each calendar year. 
  • New employees are granted 40 hours of vacation at time of hire and accrue an additional 2 weeks in their first year.
