Social Impact Internship

POSITION SPECIFIC SUMMARY: The Tippie Social Impact Community is currently accepting applications for an internship position for the 2024-2025 academic year. The social impact intern will collaborate with the program coordinator, faculty director, and other interns, to advance social impact and sustainability initiatives throughout the Tippie College of Business. Starting wage will be $12.00 per hour. 

The Social Impact Community is a hub for students, faculty, staff, and community partners working together to develop long-term, evidence-based solutions to the most pressing issues in our society. The Initiative promotes the integration of sustainability and resiliency principles into businesses and organizations by supporting people, the planet, and profits. 

 

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES AND SPECIFIC JOB TASKS

  • Manage the execution of college-wide strategic sustainability initiatives, integrating sustainability throughout curriculum, operations, student life, and outreach activities
  • Create and implement communications strategies to publicize social impact initiatives, including research programs, events, and student co-curricular activities
  • Provide support for innovative business solutions to reduce resource consumption and ecological footprint at the Tippie College of Business
  • Assist with efforts to evaluate and track collegiate social impact progress for reporting to Principles of Responsible Management Education (PRME) and the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB)
  • Assist with event planning and facilitation for workshops, conferences, and presentations

 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications: 

  • Must be an undergraduate student enrolled at the University of Iowa during the 2024-2025 academic year
  • Excellent writing and proofreading skills
  • Initiative to see projects through to completion with attention to detail
  • Ability to work in both collaborative team settings and independent environments

Desired Qualifications:

  • Interest/background in social impact-related topics such as environmentalism, climate action, health and well-being, societal resiliency, sustainable economic development, community engagement, or related fields
  • Social media, marketing, or communication experience

 

Work Schedule

  • Flexible between 8am-5pm Monday-Friday
  • Between 5 to 10 hours a week
  • Hybrid work environment
  • Position begins August 2024
