Outdoor Rental Center Attendant

BASIC FUNCTION

To assist in the day to day management of the Outdoor Rental Center (ORC). Facilitate outdoor equipment rentals, returns and clean and maintain equipment. May also assist at the Climbing Wall if qualified.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Knowledge of all policies and procedures of facilities, programs, equipment and operations.
  • Carries out security measures (proper opening and closing duties, accountability for building keys, equipment and money handling etc.).
  • Responds to all building emergencies (Accidents/Injuries, Inclement Weather, etc)
  • General understanding of the operations of ORC as well as other recreational services departments.
  • Assist to keep facilities/equipment in excellent condition while also providing great customer service to our members.
  • May be required to work special events outside normal hours of operation.
  • Works cooperatively with other areas of the department to achieve established goals.
  • Promotes a safe, clean, functional and marketable facility.
  • Performs other work as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interact with diverse groups through a variety of situations.
  • Mandatory attendance at semester training meetings.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and good judgment.
  • An interest and experience with outdoor activities, i.e., biking, camping, canoeing, hiking, etc.
  • A Top Rope Approval Card for the Climbing Wall is preferred.

WORK HOURS

  • Must be able to accommodate a variable work schedule that may include evenings and weekends.
