Position: Parking Ramp Attendant
We are hiring student Parking Ramp Attendants! The selected candidate would join us to work both the summer and fall semesters and hopefully beyond! (This is NOT just a summer position.)

The Position:
The ideal candidate for a Parking Attendant position is energetic, outgoing, polite, responsible, professional and possesses strong customer service and communication skills. The ability to perform physical activities such as walking briskly and bending are requirements of the position.
The Parking Attendant is responsible for assisting daily parking customers at various facilities around campus. This position will interact with the public and must be capable of using appropriate verbal communication. Ability to learn and apply basic knowledge of University of Iowa parking garages is helpful. Applicant must be a current University of Iowa student.
· We operate 7-days a week.
· Shifts range 2 - 4 hours in length. We require a minimum of 12 hours per week which is usually a combination of 4-8 shifts.
During the Fall semester we require working several events which are frequently evenings and weekends.
As a Parking Attendant, you will be responsible for and expected to:
- Greet and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner with neat appearance and in uniform at all times while at work.
- Help customers navigate the self-pay kiosks monitoring patrons in pay-in lanes. Assist and direct exiting traffic across multiple lanes.
- Serve as the point of contact for questions related to parking in the facility. Have knowledge or willingness to learn surrounding streets, landmarks, freeways, or any other helpful information to be able to provide to guest when needed.
- Provide quick and pleasant customer service and satisfaction
- Work some special events (Football or other event parking) as needed which are frequently evenings and weekends
- Cooperate with all team members to provide the best possible service to all internal and external customers
- Assist Management in the daily operation of the parking facility
- Complete any other duties that may be assigned by the supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills, & Experience Sought:
· Current University of Iowa Student – required
· You needed to have been a registered University of Iowa student this past Spring semester or be enrolled for the Summer.
· Previous customer service experience a plus but not required
· If you have this position, this can be your only paid position with the university. You may have other jobs outside the university, but this can be your only paid job with the university.
