Community Engagement VISTA (entry level)
Serve as an AmeriCorps VISTA with United Way of the Piedmont at one of our 14 partner agencies. As a Community Engagement VISTA, you will be responsible for building the capacity of a local nonprofit organization to provide health, education, and economic mobility services through implementation of strategic initiatives that build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
Responsibilities may include:
- Grant writing and fund development
- Volunteer recruitment and training
- Marketing and communications
- Program assessment, development, and implementation
- Data collection, research, and analysis
- Community outreach and engagement

All VISTA Members in SC receive these benefits:
- $750 Settling In allowance and government rate mileage reimbursement for those moving more than 50 miles to serve
- Education Award to be used toward student loans or further education ($7,395 upon completion of service) OR an end-of-service cash stipend ($1,800)
- Health benefit (not full coverage) of up to $8,500 to cover out-of-pocket healthcare costs and health allowance if already covered by insurance
