Front Desk Clerk - Iowa House Hotel

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

BASIC FUNCTION
To work part-time as the desk clerk of the Iowa House Hotel.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Check guests in and out, handle room keys, transfer telephone calls to guests, take supplies to guests, and generally assist guests of the Iowa House.
  • Operate the cash register at the Iowa House desk: make change for Iowa House guests.
  • Check in and out Iowa Memorial Union keys and money bags.
  • Handle complaints of guests of the Iowa House such as noise, water problems, power shortages and malfunctioning elevators.
  • Sort incoming mail by department.
  • Make reservations using OPERA Property Management System
  • Handle confidential credit card information
  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills necessary.
  • Must be flexible and available to work weekends, late nights, holidays, and football weekends.
  • Criminal background check required.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have a resume, cover letter is optional.
  • One year commitment and availability over academic breaks.
  • Able to work independently.

LOCATION
  • Iowa Memorial Union - Iowa House Hotel

WORK SCHEDULE
  • Between 8:00 AM - 12:00 AM daily
  • Must be available in the summer, some weekends, and some football weekends

  • Credit Card Security Policy Training
  • UIOWA Security Awareness Training
  • Driver's License Check upon hire
  • Criminal Background Check upon hire
