Ice Arena Customer Service

Position information:

Responsible to provide a safe, well-maintained and comfortable environment for staff and the public.  Performs under the supervision of the Ice Arena Manager.

Typical duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Provides information about the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) ice arenas to customers.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding Park Board services, facilities, programs, and events.
  • Deals directly with the public in person and over the phone giving out general information, answering questions, explaining procedures, and gathering facts and pertinent information regarding problems and complaints.
  • Processes reservations and payments, emails receipts, creates customer accounts and provides availability.
  • Operates computerized public information and reservation systems in an efficient and accurate manner.
  • Responds to customer inquiries via telephone, in person and/or in writing as required.
  • Performs a variety of office support activities.
  • Assists with databases, filing, copying, collating and mailings.
  • Keeps supervisor and other appropriate staff informed of problems or other matters.
  • Interpret and enforce ice arena rules for customers.
  • Deposits and receipts money associated with all transactions.
  • Look up availability of ice time, book ice, assign teams and locker rooms.
  • Complete injury requests and submits work orders.
  • Perform cleaning tasks in the office and around the facility.

Related Duties:

  • Performs duties related to processing customer requests.
  • Refers complex questions to appropriate staff when necessary.
  • Researches, analyzes, and resolves reservation applications.
  • Interprets Park Board Charter, Park Board Ordinances and Park Board policies for customers.
  • Performs related work as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • One year of customer service experience.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse cultural groups.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule (morning, day, evening, and weekends).
  • Ability to communicate in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Ability to provide a level of customer service that meets/exceeds customer expectation and satisfaction.

Compensation:  $15.25-$18.75 depending upon qualifications

This position is eligible for sick and safe leave in accordance with the Minneapolis Sick and Safe Time Ordinance. This position is not eligible for other benefits 

Hours: 

  • Times vary based upon facility and include evenings and weekends.
  • This is a part-time position of up to 20 hours per week 
  • Shifts range from mostly 4-6 hours each 

MANDATORY: to work Thanksgiving weekend for a large event
