Bilingual Health Center Therapist

Part of our mission is to provide in-person services to our clients when needed. Therefore we want to make sure that there is availability to work late evenings.

  • Schedule: Monday – Friday from 8:00am – 4:30pm with the availability to work late evenings (with 10 hours after 4pm)
  • Travel between our Riverside and La Grange on-site locations. (3 days on-site / 2 days off-site)
  • Bi-Lingual (English/Spanish Required

SUMMARY

Provides brief mental health and substance use intervention services to patients in an outpatient family practice Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). Brief intervention services are provided in-person and via telehealth using the evidence-based model of Solution-Focused Brief Therapy*. Collaborates with medical staff and other behavioral health team members within a Community Mental Health Center.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Works in an integrated care setting to provide individual and family mental health and substance use services to children, adolescents, and adults.
  • Provides brief intervention services using evidence-based model of Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. These services are typically provided via 30-minute face-to-face sessions with individual patients and families, for a maximum of 6-8 sessions depending on patient needs.
  • Assesses referred clients to identify appropriate services and level of care, and makes appropriate referrals based on that assessment.
  • Assesses and stabilizes high risk individuals and/or families.
  • Provides case management services that coordinate, support, and advocate for clients who need multiple services and require assistance in gaining access to and in using mental health, social, vocational, educational, child welfare, and other community services and resources.
  • Completes clinical documentation in accordance with the FQHC and organizational policies and procedures, established timeframes, and while meeting established productivity standards.
  • Works in collaboration with other Pillars Community Health programs and staff.
  • Coordinates with other community agencies and organizations such as, DCFS, schools, hospitals, and other providers in the community as required.
  • Responds to clients’ needs outside of regularly scheduled session times.
  • Monitors and supports services provided by psychiatrist.
  • Participates in peer review per clinic protocol to ensure that documentations satisfies current standards of care and regulatory guidelines
  • Participates in specific program meetings, including required staff, line of service, and organizational meetings, and required trainings, and consultations.
  • Maintains licensure and CEU requirements, regularly submitting record of such to HR and Credentialing and Compliance Departments.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Masters Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy or related field required.
  • Experience working with clients with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders is preferred but not required.
  • Experience using Solution-Focused Brief Therapy model preferred, but not required. Training in the model will be provided on the job.

LANGUAGE: Bi-Lingual (English/Spanish Required

Must maintain a safe driving record and have current valid Illinois Driver’s License. Personal vehicle needed for transportation to/from consultation meetings at other Pillars Community Health sites. Mileage for authorized work-related purposes is reimbursable.

** Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is an evidence-based model of systemic therapy created by Steve de Shazer and Insoo Kim Berg at The Brief Family Therapy Center in Milwaukee in the 1970s and 1980s. SFBT is a short-term, goal-focused approach which reverses the traditional therapeutic process: where clients develop a description of life after the problem is resolved then work backwards to construct solutions to get there. Research evidence suggests that SFBT can produce similar effectiveness as other evidence-based models, but in fewer sessions. To learn more about this model, please review:
