R&D Intern

iotaMotion is hiring a R&D Intern (RDI) to join an in-office R&D team at our Iowa City, IA location.

 

iotaMotion develops and commercializes robotic-assisted surgical technologies. The first commercially available product is iotaSOFT® Insertion System, which controls the insertion of a cochlear implant to improve outcomes for surgeons and subsequently patients. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to engage with surgeons to optimize their treatment of those with hearing loss.

 

RDI responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Perform engineering tasks at the direction of senior R&D Staff
  • Prototype new and novel ideas as part of our early research programs
  • Support laboratory experiments, including cadaveric lab experiments
  • Author verification plans, protocols, test cases, summary reports 
  • Work with project managers and hardware/software engineers for execution for key programs and releases.

 

Requirements:

Must have at least 2 years of college education in an Engineering discipline, including Mechanical, Electrical, Biomedical, Robotic, Biomechanical, or Software Engineering. 

 

The ideal candidate will have the following attributes or skills:

  • Design and rapid prototyping experience (3D CAD, 3D Printing, Machine Tooling)
  • Experience with electrical circuit design
  • Research programming experience in C++, Matlab, Python, or equivalent
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills
  • Willingness to learn and try, regardless of the assignment.

 

RDIs will work closely with team members to advance their knowledge and contribute significantly to the iotaMotion R&D efforts.
