Neurology Clerical Support - Student Clerk

The Student Clerk position provides administrative support for the Department of Neurology at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, primarily assisting with Deficiency tracking and charge capture. 

Responsibilities include: 

  • Clerical support for computerized tracking system for provider documentation
  • Charge reconciliation
  • Other office work as assigned

A successful applicant must be reliable, attentive to detail and accuracy, and willing to help as needed. This position will have access to information requiring a high degree of confidentiality and independent judgement. Preference will be given to those with Electronic Medical Record (i.e., Epic) or healthcare office experience. 

Position is located within the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Several health screening compliances and trainings will be required at the time of hire.

Schedule: Schedule is flexible with class schedule. Approximately 15-20 hours per week during academic semesters with the opportunity for additional hours during breaks (i.e., Spring Break, Summer Break, Thanksgiving Break, Winter Break). Hours will be worked Monday – Friday between 8:00am-5:00pm. No weekends or holidays. Availability to work during academic breaks required. This position is on-going with the expectation of lasting two years.

Pay: This position pays $10/hour.

Qualifications:

  • Must be currently registered as an undergraduate or graduate student at the University of Iowa
  • Must be available to work during academic breaks, including summer.
  • Proficient in operating standard office equipment (e.g., computer, printer, scanner, fax machine, multi-line telephone)
  • Knowledge of office software programs such as Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat, as well as electronic meeting platforms such as Skype for Business and Zoom
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to work 4-hour blocks highly preferred.
  • Epic and/or hospital office experience highly preferred
