Job Description:

Are you ready to ignite young imaginations and cultivate a love for creativity and expression? Join Kid Explorer Club Corporation as our Art Specialist in the vibrant city of Chicago, IL.

 

The Role:

As the Art Specialist, you will lead specialized classes designed to spark creativity and foster hands-on art projects for our youngest campers. We provide the training, curriculum, and all necessary equipment, but we need your boundless enthusiasm, dedication, and unmatched energy to bring our camp to life.

 

Camper Ages:

  • 3-6 years old

Activities Include:

  • Mason jar habitats
  • Slime experiments
  • Crafty and themed hats
  • Camouflaged animal searches
  • Wearable dinosaur tails
  • Creating creature footprints
  • Rain clouds in a jar

Weekly Themes:

  • Animals
  • Superheroes
  • Insects
  • Outer space

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday, 7:30 am – 3:45 pm

Compensation:

  • $16 / hour

What You'll Do:

Bring Camp to Life:

  • Implement pre-written Art curriculum for multiple groups of campers, fostering creativity and engagement in 30-minute rotations.
  • Prepare materials and activities, ensuring they are age-appropriate and enjoyable for campers.
  • Model exemplary classroom management and camper engagement skills, coaching group counselors to support during classes.
  • Maintain inventory of materials and communicate any needs to the Program Leader.

Nurture Physical, Social & Emotional Safety:

  • Support campers in their emotional, physical, and social development through hands-on exploration and age-appropriate activities.

Be an Active Member of the Camp Team:

  • Arrive on time, communicate effectively, and collaborate with teammates to create the best experience for campers.
  • Be flexible and willing to support other activities on-site, including lunch, snack, Special Events, and carpool duties.

Represent Kid Explorer Club Corporation:

  • Act as an enthusiastic ambassador of our brand, providing exceptional service to families and facility partners.
  • Maintain a clean and organized programming area, reflecting our commitment to excellence.

Handle the Curveballs:

  • Approach challenges with resilience and a solution-oriented mindset, always prioritizing camper experience and team success.

About You:

  • Must be at least 19 years old with at least 1 year of undergraduate education or equivalent professional experience.
  • Majors in education and child development are viewed favorably.

 

Experience:

  • Ability to work around small children and participate in dynamic activities for extended periods.
  • Capacity to work in hot and outdoor environments while actively supervising campers.
  • Capability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds occasionally.
