Western National Mutual Insurance Company seeks to expand its Claims team by adding a Claims Intern in our Auto, Property, Worker's Compensation, and Legal Liability departments. Western National Internship Program Summary:

Western National provides a robust internship experience for those interested in the insurance industry. The internship program includes both hands-on opportunities and project work working with claims adjusters in addition to programming activities focused on fostering professional development, making connections with employees and other interns, and active volunteering in the community. 

Position Summary:

  • Learn how to research and confirm coverage for all types of property and casualty claims.
  • Learn the importance of claim documentation and data reporting.
  • Learn how to properly investigate a claim using communication and listening skills, witness information, online research tools, medical records, and/or vendor services.
  • Learn how to use your investigation to assess compensability.
  • Learn to read, review, and pay estimates, medical bills, and vendor bills.
  • Learn how to set and modify reserves on a claim.
  • Learn the importance of working closely with underwriters, loss control, insureds, and agents to offer superior customer service.
  • Assist with various projects as assigned.
  • Attend off site claims-related tasks and events (i.e., inspections, depositions, court appearances, and/or mediations) with adjusting team.
  • Shadow other positions within the company to learn more about careers within the insurance industry.

What You’ll Need to Succeed: 

  • Completed two years of college preferred
  • Willingness to help with variety of tasks from data collection, entry, customer relations, claims resolution and everything in between
  • Proven time management skills with the ability to effectively prioritize, multi-task, and establish/meet deadlines
  • Superior customer service
  • Professional communication skills
  • An understanding of technology solutions

Compensation Overview:

The base pay offered for this position will be $20.00/hour.
