Marketing & Graphic Design Intern

POSITION SUMMARY

The Girls on the Run Marketing and Graphic Design Intern works with the GOTREI staff and volunteers to support the Girls on the Run marketing and communications strategies and outreach efforts. Duties include: 

  • Create and design print and digital materials using provided templates and established branding guidelines (primarily in Canva).
  • Create and update website, social media, and email graphics
  • Assist in brainstorming content that engages stakeholders
  • Assist in updating social media platforms including Facebook and Instagram
  • Assist with creating e-newsletters
  • Promote coach and participant recruitment
  • Create press releases and media alerts for major events including the launch of the season, the 5K Celebration event, and other special events (templates/guidance provided)

POSITION DATES/SCHEDULE/HOURS

  • Part-time in Fall/Spring/Summer
  • Averaging 10 hours per week
  • Work times are flexible, with most tasks completed remotely.
  • Location: 1-2 positions in Iowa City/Cedar Rapids/Cedar Valley

COMMITMENT

  • Our interns are expected to work a minimum of 10 hours/week throughout the internship period
  • Work times are flexible, with most tasks completed remotely via computer.
  • Obtaining school credit is strongly recommended.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent research, writing and organizational skills.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail.
  • A motivated self-starter with a desire to see the growth of the GOTR program in Eastern Iowa
  • Reliable and able to work to deadlines.
  • Strong belief in the mission and values of Girls on the Run.
  • Willingness to complete a background check

COMPENSATION

The Girls on the Run Marketing & Graphic Design Internship is offers a stipend of $750 paid in increments of $250 at the end of each completed term (summer, fall, spring).  We will work with successful applicants to obtain school credit if applicable.  

Preference for candidates who can commit to a full year June 2024-May 30, 2025, though one-term engagements will be considered.
