eCommerce Data Analyst

About the position: (This is not a 100% remote position/ MANDATORY IN OFFICE: Tuesday & Wednesday)

The First Book Marketplace (https://www.fbmarketplace.org/) is an award-winning eCommerce website that provides the First Book Network with 24-hour, year-round access to a curated repository of free and low-cost new books, educational resources, and basic necessities for kids in need ages 0-18.


The person in this role will be accountable for gathering, delivering, and analyzing trusted data to deliver analytical insights regarding First Book’s overall eCommerce performance.  This performance is defined by the various metrics and indicators that evaluate the organization’s ability across the entire funnel from member acquisition, to conversion and reengagement.  How are we doing at generating marketplace sales, providing a seamless shopping experience, and driving our ability to provide more resources to kids in need?  We are seeking an individual that is committed to the discovery and development of innovative data-driven solutions in this ever-changing digital landscape. You will be an active participant in strategy formulation, and will be our eCommerce performance data expert, developing a network across multiple teams at First Book. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • You will lead the analysis of varied digital data sets, provide actionable insights, and guide decision-making processes to improve overall eCommerce performance and member experiences on the First Book Marketplace.
  • Ensure the integrity and accuracy of existing digital data by continued monitoring and assessment of platform tags and tracking.  Implement data validation checks and work closely with IT and others to resolve data discrepancies.
  • Continuously monitor and analyze key business metrics such as GMV, conversion rates, member acquisition, behavior, and retention metrics. Identify trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve reporting frameworks for weekly, monthly, and quarterly business reviews.  Describe the situation of the business, explain the fluctuations of the business, and provide valuable suggestions.
  • Establish measurement frameworks for new features on the site and work with relevant team members to implement the data collection strategies.
  • Build and maintain dashboards and data visualizations that enable stakeholders to self-serve and access relevant information efficiently, as necessary.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to perform investigations during metric change events. Effectively communicate changes in metrics, insights, and recommendations to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Respond to ad-hoc data requests and perform special analyses as required by the business to support strategic decision-making.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in data analysis, data visualization, and emerging technologies for data management.
  • Collaborate with IT to improve our tech stack, improve data infrastructure, and enhance data accessibility and usability.
  • Generate testing ideas to continuously improve eCommerce performance and help with the coordination/implementation/evaluation of A/B tests on the website.
  • Manage analytics implementation projects by building timelines, communicating the updates to partners, and ensuring delivery as per the tech-spec requirements.

 

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required:

  • Deep expertise in online/ecommerce analytics.  Strong understanding of the digital ecosystem
  • Experience with Google Analytics (UA & GA4)
  • Strong proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker Studio)
  • Proficiency using SalesForce
  • Excellent skills in data extraction and manipulation
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.  Ability to identify trends and patterns in the data using quantitative, qualitative, and exploratory data analysis skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment
  • Great communication and presentation skills.  Ability to present complex information with clear recommendations based on data insights  
  • To succeed in the role, you need to be a proactive, self-driven and impact driven person

Education and/or Experience:

- 3-5 years of proven experience as a Data Analyst, preferably in an ecommerce or marketplace environment
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Statistics, Data Science, Economics, Computer Science)
