Rec Services - Climbing Wall Attendant
BASIC FUNCTION
Check in climbers, supervise the wall, instruct climbing lessons, administer safety checks, risk management control, assist with LLS climbing classes and maintain a safe climbing area. May also assist at the Outdoor Rental Center.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Knowledge of all policies and procedures of facilities, programs, equipment and operations.
- Responds to all building emergencies (Accidents/Injuries, Inclement Weather, etc)
- General understanding of the operations of Touch the Earth as well as other Recreational Services departments.
- Greets climbers while checking them into the climbing area.
- Assist to keep facilities/equipment in excellent condition while also providing great customer service to our members.
- Works cooperatively with other areas of the department to achieve established goals.
- Promotes a safe, clean, functional and marketable facility.
- Performs other work as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Have a current Top Rope Approval Card, preferably from the UI.
- Previous climbing experience.
- Outstanding customer service skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to interact with diverse groups through a variety of situations.
- Mandatory attendance at training meetings.
- Strong problem-solving skills and good judgment.
- A passion for the outdoors!
WORK HOURS
- Must be able to accommodate a variable work schedule that may include evenings and weekends.
- May be required to work special events outside normal hours of operation.
LOCATION
- Campus Recreation & Wellness Center (CRWC)
WORK HOURS
- Monday - Thursday: 4:00 pm - 10:00 pm
- Friday: 4:00 pm - 8:30 pm
- Saturday - Sunday: 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm
