UHD - Cook - IMU Kitchen
BASIC FUNCTION
Perform various tasks including the preparation and cooking of food, and cleaning/sanitation duties which support the operations of a large-scale food service operation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare hot and cold food including cooking, baking, recipe reading, measuring, and cutting
- Work with kitchen staff on catering and special events
- Assist in restocking kitchen and keep area organized
- Work in dish area as needed including scraping, cleaning and putting away dishes
- Clean and sanitize tables and other surfaces. Follow proper sanitation procedures including sweeping and mopping
- Respond to customer inquiries or problems in a courteous manner
- Demonstrate civil and respectful interactions with others
- Dress in proper work attire per department guidelines
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Enrolled as student at the University of Iowa(during academic year)
- Demonstrated commitment to GREAT customer service
- Must be a motivated self-starter and able to complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision
- Good communication skills (written and verbal) and be positive and respectful in working with a diverse population
- Must be dependable and reliable
- Must be able to work through finals week
- Must be able to move up to 20 pounds and stand for long periods of time
- Must be able to work at least a 2 hour shift on either Fridays, Saturdays, or Sundays
- Must be able to handle meat products
LOCATION
- Iowa Memorial Union – 132 IMU
WORK HOURS
- Varied 4-6 hour shifts
- Weekend availability is a must

- Safety Training for Dining Students
Cooking experience appreciated but not necessary!
