Description

The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office (HCAO) is seeking a Restorative Justice and Diversion Coordinator to join the Youth Prosecution Division to work on the implementation of a Juvenile Justice System Reform grant from the federal Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP). This position will develop and engage with a community advisory committee and the implementation of expanded non-system responses to delinquency referrals. This includes collaborating with community and system partners to increase diversion programming, expand the use of restorative justice, and build connections to culturally specific programming. Additional work will include supporting efforts to look at disparities and the development of policies to address them, as well as supporting the expansion of automatic expungement and sealing of juvenile records.

Location and hours:
This position is hybrid and will be performed both on-site at the Youth Prosecution Division Office located at 525 Portland Ave. S., Minneapolis, MN 55415, and remote as job duties require. The typical work hours will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin. 

New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022, to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment. 

About the position type:
This is a full-time, limited duration (temporary), grant-funded, benefit earning position expected to last up to two years with the possibility of extension.

In this position, you will:    

  • Have direct contact with youth, families, and community about diversion and restorative justice.
  • Plan and lead internal and external discussions related to youth justice system reform.
  • Aid in developing basic project, program, and training requirements within the HCAO.
  • Receive community input and identify resources in the community.
  • Prepare and facilitate meetings, trainings, and presentations to core partners, internal staff, and the community.
  • Write reports that include recommendations for a shift in programming in services, improvements, adjustments and supports needed for community providers; make recommendations based on review and analysis from reports.
  • Support data gathering for grant evaluation and outcomes review.
  • Support contracts with community providers related to non-system responses for youth.
  • Analyze public policy and recommend policy revisions.  

Need to have:

  • One of the following:
    • Bachelor's degree or higher in business administration, public administration, research methods, statistics, behavioral/social science, public health, computer science/MIS or management science, urban/city planning, or a field appropriate to the area of specialization. 
    • Bachelor's degree or higher in any field and a minimum of two courses in research methods, analysis, statistics, project management, planning or evaluation and one year or more of relevant planning analyst experience.

    • Serving diverse populations including clients in the criminal justice system.
    • With process improvement and service redesign efforts.
    • Managing multiple projects and delivering results.
    • Working closely with stakeholders and subject matter experts to ensure successful project completion.
    • Designing and leading facilitated conversations.
  • Familiarity with the juvenile justice system processes and evidence-based practices.
  • Ability to tailor messages to different audiences.
  • Skilled in using Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Visio.
