Food Safety Bureau Intern

Job Description

The Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals, and Licensing Food Safety Bureau is seeking Administrative Interns. These positions will serve as a Food Bureau Summer Interns in the Food Unit which regulates food, lodging businesses, and social and charitable gambling operations in Iowa. Interns will assist the bureau with a variety of administrative tasks including; application review and processing, customer service, website content editing, and process improvement projects. Our summer interns will also receive opportunities to participate in outreach and food safety inspections.

The schedule of this summer internship is 40 hours per week, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday with occasional weekend work. Potential for part-time hours during fall and spring semesters (up to 20 hours per week).

Minimum Qualification Requirements: Currently enrolled student in a degree program at an accredited educational institution.

The position is based at 6200 Park, Suite 100, Des Moines, Iowa. 

This is a non-merit Internship position with the Department of Inspections, Appeals & Licensing, Food Safety Bureau.

Positions in this class are exempt from the screening and referral requirements of the Iowa Department of Administrative Services - Human Resources Enterprise.

 

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Applicants for positions in this class must be currently enrolled students in a degree program at an accredited educational institution, as determined by the Iowa Department of Administrative Services – Human Resources Enterprise.
