Survivor Empowerment VISTA

The CourageLIVES VISTA project serves women, children and families in need facing food insecurity with a particular focus on supporting survivors of human trafficking, exploitation, sexual violence and domestic abuse. By bolstering individual and family food security, this helps address poverty through having more stable day to day functioning, people are able to work and make other necessary life decisions, and do not have to make the forced choice of having a meal or going without food. Capacity will be built through growing the Empowerment Pantry to serve even more people needing help; developing the Community Garden; expanding community education about food resources, cooking and nutrition education and food budgeting.

The Survivor Empowerment VISTA will identify new, creative partnerships to connect survivors and their families with available resources; create a guide on statewide food resources; identify strategies for stocking the Pantry and for enhancing and growing our program’s ability to better meet basic and immediate needs.
