Volunteer Water Monitoring Program Specialist - Job ID 77883

Job Summary

This position exists to support the volunteer water monitoring programs. This position will assist with the administration of the statewide volunteer water monitoring program by overseeing and participating in program data management, recruiting new volunteers, and communicating with current volunteers. This requires strong working relationships with agency staff to facilitate monitoring coordination with local partners, and strengthen the civic engagement and that is critical to the development of restoration and protection strategies.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a field of study related to environmental protection, sustainability or pollution prevention OR

One year of professional experience leading and administering comprehensive environmental projects** OR

Two years technical experience responsible for providing programmatic (Environmental) support**

** Experience must include demonstration of data analysis, data management and reporting skills, project management and organizational skills.

Possess a valid Driver’s license (see additional requirements).

AND

Ability to:

Prioritize and organize work to carry out daily tasks and stay on target with timelines.

Communicate effectively verbally and in writing in order to translate technical information, rules and regulations to language understandable by a nontechnical audience.

Strong attention to detail sufficient to analyze data to effectively and efficiently identify and troubleshoot discrepancies.

Preferred Qualifications

Technical experience in an environmental program including data analysis and reporting.

Experience using TEMPO.

Experience working with Microsoft Word and Excel.

Experience with EQuIS.

Knowledge of agency data management policies and procedures, state and federal rules.

Ability to interpret and apply permitting program policy and procedures.

Physical Requirements

Requires occasionally moving such articles as file boxes and heavy hand tools or heavier materials with help from others and/or moving light objects frequently. A job is in this category may require maintaining a stationary position to a significant degree or may involve a certain amount of moving necessary in carrying out job duties.

Additional Requirements

A driver’s license is an essential function of this position. This requires possession of an unrestricted Class D Driver’s License. The job offer is contingent on confirmation of a valid driver’s license AND a satisfactory DLR check. Requires a Class D Driver's License: a single unit vehicle with a gross vehicle weight of less than 26,000 pounds. This is a basic driver's license. Operators may also tow vehicles/trailers as long as the gross combination weight does not exceed 26,000 pounds.
