VISTA Reentry Operation Specialist

The VISTA Reentry Operation Specialist will enhance the organizational capacity of the St. Vincent de Paul Reentry Career Development Team by streamlining operational processes and creating systems to improve service delivery. This will enable the team to more effectively empower justice-involved individuals in breaking the cycle of poverty and incarceration through comprehensive employment readiness support. The VISTA will develop standardized procedures, training resources, and a centralized knowledge repository to improve team efficiency and ensure continuity of services. Additionally, the VISTA will implement an employer outreach initiative to cultivate partnerships with businesses willing to provide second-chance employment opportunities, thus expanding the program's network and maximizing its impact on moving individuals out of poverty.

VISTA member activities:

  • Establish a centralized digital repository to store and organize all resources, documents, presentations, and printable handouts. 
  • Create print versions of materials as necessary and update the digital repository to keep it current and organized. 
  • Develop comprehensive desk manuals for each staff member providing direct services, documenting their day-to-day responsibilities, and outlining procedures for handling routine tasks. T
  • Create and maintain a comprehensive, living desk manual for the VISTA position to ensure project continuity and sustainability, serving as a crucial knowledge transfer tool for future VISTAs.
  • Develop and implement an employer outreach initiative to connect the Career Development Team with employers willing to provide second chances for justice-involved individuals. 
  • Develop a comprehensive resource system for the organization's reentry-specific grant applications. Create, organize, and update materials that provide valuable data, impact stories, and program information to enhance the quality and competitiveness of funding proposals.
  • Develop comprehensive resume resources and documents for skills that are currently underrepresented in the program's materials. Create a diverse range of resume templates, skill-specific resources, and "skill banks" that cater to the unique needs of justice-involved individuals seeking employment. 
  • Create a comprehensive and user-friendly contact management system for Idaho Department of Correction (IDOC) stakeholders. Develop a clear organizational chart and communication protocol to facilitate efficient problem-solving and enhance diplomatic relations with IDOC. Update this system monthly to ensure its continued relevance and effectiveness. 

Requirements:

  • Be 18 years or older (no upper age limit)
  • Hold one of the following citizenship or legal residency statuses: US citizen, US National, Lawful Permanent Resident (i.e. Green Card status), and persons legally residing within a state. Examples of persons legally residing within a state may include those holding the following classifications: refugee, asylee, temporary protected status throughout VISTA service, and holding Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) status.
