Superintendent of Facilities Maintenance

The City of Aurora is currently accepting applications for the position of Superintendent of Facilities Maintenance in the department of Public Facilities.

Under administrative direction of the Chief Public Facilities Officer, organizes, directs and administers a comprehensive maintenance operation of all City of Aurora owned properties. Manages and oversees the Central Services, Route 25 & Route 59 Transit Centers, Motor Vehicle Parking, and Aurora Airport Divisions. Formulates and implements policies and procedures to insure an optimum and cost-effective maintenance program; devises and prepares annual budget proposals.

Duties of this position also include but are not limited to: Supervise work activities of staff; Establish and administer divisional operating policies and procedures; Forecast, estimate, and prepare annual budget proposals for divisional needs; Administer inventory of city owned properties; Investigate complaints and resolve problems concerning facilities; Negotiate contract agreements concerning building maintenance; Other related duties as assigned.  

The ideal candidate requires thorough knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques involving the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of buildings. Requires knowledge of critical systems of buildings including HVAC, lighting, and energy efficiencies. This position requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience. Requires at least 10 years of management experience and at least 8 years of experience in facilities maintenance operations. Requires a valid driver’s license. 

This is a full-time, executive position. Starting salary is $93,038.40, depending on experience and qualifications.
