Independence Schools Mentoring Coordinator VISTA

Serve as an AmeriCorps VISTA Member with the Independence School District in Independence! 

VISTA Members serve for one year with a not-for-profit to make a positive impact while earning a living stipend, an education award, health benefits, relocation benefits (if eligible) and non-competitive eligibility for federal jobs.

Mustang Mentoring is our school-based Student Mentor Program serving K-12 students district-wide. The Independence Schools Mentoring Coordinator VISTA will establish a positive public relations program for the Mustangs Mentoring program. The VISTA will assess students' needs for a mentor with assistance by school staff; recruit, train, and match community members and students; confidentially maintain all information for mentoring; and communicate with all staff including Superintendent and principals, as needed.
