About Ushering & House Management for the School of Music

The purpose of the School of Music front of house staff is to provide a professional and pleasant atmosphere for the Department’s public performances. The house staff serves two different user groups – patrons and performers. It is important that the patrons’ expectations and needs are met, and it is equally important that the performers have a respectful and polished event. It is the job of the house managers and ushers to ensure that both groups are respected during the performance.

The Front of House staff sets the tone for a polished and professional performance. This position represents both the School of Music and the University of Iowa to our students and patrons.
