Marketing & Communications Internship

Under the direction and supervision of the Marketing & Communications Director and in harmony with the mission, vision, and the established policies, goals and objectives of Aptiv, the Marketing & Communications Intern shall provide support and guidance to the Marketing & Communications Department and other Aptiv staff relative to marketing related projects, website maintenance, member communications, social media updates and other necessary tasks to tell the Aptiv story to our community while meeting the Aptiv’s branding standards.

Qualifications:
  • Education, Training & Work Experience:

  • Completed or working toward a college degree, preferably in a related field (e.g., English, Marketing/Communications, or Public Relations)
  • Previous internship or related experience in marketing or communications is a plus
  • Background and experience with data measurement and evaluation experience

  • Specialized Knowledge, Skills & Certifications:
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Interpersonal & coaching skills
  • Ability to find, navigate and utilize effective communication outlets
  • Firm grasp of available tools and platforms in the social media space
  • Working knowledge of digital photography and video production

  • Equipment & Applications:
  • Must be computer proficient (working knowledge of word processing, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat and knowledge of HTML, website content management and graphic design – optional but preferred

  • Interest in effectively managing systems and processes

Internship Hours: Monday-Friday, mornings and afternoons
12-15 hours per week

Job Functions:
  • Perform excellent service to all customers, staff, volunteers and vendors.
  • A desire and ability to build relationships with Aptiv stakeholders (participants, staff etc.)
  • Communicate with supervisor, staff, members, guests, and volunteers in a clear, concise and positive manner while using active listening skills.
  • Understand and be committed to the Aptiv cause and our role in the community as a leader in working with people with disabilities.
  • Studies, comprehends and uses Aptiv voice messaging and branding guidelines for all communications delivered to members, staff and volunteers.
  • Actively participates in team meetings and committees as assigned.
  • Work with Marketing & Communications Director to assess organizations current methods of marketing and communication and research additional methods of telling Aptiv’s story to engage our communities.
  • Gather video, photos and stories from stakeholders involved with Aptiv, including participants, parents/guardians, staff, volunteers and key collaborative leaders. 
  • Collaboration with the Marketing & Communications Director to assist Aptiv staff with communications about Aptiv events, programs and stories via local media, event calendars, newsletters, and web.
  • Determine and implement ways to measure the impact of communications.
  • Arrive for internship hours on time and dressed appropriately.
  • Follow all policies and procedures as set forth in the Aptiv Employee Handbook and Department Handbook.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Marketing and Communications.
